I Want To Know What Love Is

There is a song by a rock group called Foreigner. It is called "I Want To Know What Love  Is." It is a song about a man who have experienced a lot of heartache  and pain on his life's journeys. He never really met his true love until he found her and that is when he asked her t show her what love is.

As a Christian I know what Agape Love is and that is God. In the first letter the  apostle John wrote that God is love, but many  who don't know God , do not really know what love is  Love is something you feel in your heart for different people  Agape love is unconditional love. You have phileo love which is brotherly love. That love is meant for a friend or  a brother or sister.  I have  a sister  and I love her as Jesus loves her but I  also love her as my sister. It is the affection you have for that person.  There is storge love (pronounced stor-jay) which is the love a parent has for a child. Then there is Eros Love (or romantic love)
 That is  the kind of love I  want to know and experience and I believe that is what the lead singer was singing about to. He says "I want you to show me"
 The definition of Eros is sensual love, but this kind of love should be shown by husband and wife.  One book of the Bible is full of sensual love and that is Songs of Solomon. Someday I will experience this love kind of love. I know that God loves me as his daughter. He sent his son to die for me on the cross when I was a sinner. He loved me so much that he gave up Jesus for me and   gave me eternal life. But his love for me is more than that.

 There is another song that I have loved again. It is written by a worship leader named David Ruis and it is called True Love.
